GAD refers to Generalized Anxiety Disorder, characterized by excessive anxiety and persistent worry that dominates all thoughts, causing significant distress.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder is among the most prevalent anxiety disorders and is diagnosed when it lasts for a minimum of six months, significantly disrupting personal and professional life. It often accompanies other symptoms such as depression, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, and insomnia.
Individuals with GAD typically appear consistently worried and express apprehension about everyday situations. While anxiety can be a response to stressful circumstances or specific life phases, GAD is identified when these symptoms occur.
Fortunately, talking therapies such as hypnotherapy and psychological counselling have been successful in treating GAD. Relaxation techniques are often incorporated into behavioral therapy and hypnosis, effectively helping individuals with moderate to severe GAD to overcome their challenges. The therapy generally focuses on recognizing potential causes, providing reassurance, resolving conflicts, and implementing solution-focused strategies.
Through techniques such as hypnotic regression and other hypnotherapy methods, therapists can identify situations linked to anxiety and transform these experiences by introducing new resources. This process enhances feelings of security, self-esteem, and self-efficacy.
