Strategies for Managing Overwhelming Emotions, Health, and Wellness

Updated: Apr 22

The truth is, holding in emotions, especially negative ones, only makes things worse; they can hurt you in ways that might not be immediately apparent. When we suppress our feelings, we often think we are managing them, but in reality, we are merely postponing the inevitable eruption of those emotions. Take jealousy, for instance, which many of us often consider to be a singular emotion. In truth, it is a complex amalgamation of different feelings and emotional responses. This includes the fear of loss, which can manifest when we perceive that something valuable to us is at risk. It also encompasses a sense of inadequacy, where we might feel that we are not enough or that we cannot measure up to someone else. Additionally, jealousy can bring forth feelings of hurt, sadness, and pain, as we grapple with our insecurities. This emotional cocktail can further lead to anxiety, self-doubt, and anger, and in some cases, it may even escalate into outright rage.

Emotions are not merely fleeting thoughts; they carry an energetic weight that can significantly impact our mental and physical well-being. When you are stressed out, for example, you accumulate a substantial amount of negative energy within yourself. This negative energy can manifest in various ways, such as physical tension, headaches, or digestive issues, and If you don’t release it on your own, it will release itself in other ways, through a form of anger, frustration, and outright rage. Anger can arise when we feel exhausted, not listened to, made fun of etc. However, anger can become a major problem if it is expressed in extreme ways e.g. physical violence, verbal abuse, tantrums (even in adults), swearing and abusing others.

All these expressions of anger can give us feelings of release in the short term, but when we cool down we can become ashamed, guilty, angry with ourselves and lowered self-esteem can result - and sadly, there is often an estranged, hurt or demeaned partner or child who has had to bear the brunt of our anger. Hypnotherapy is an effective aid in the process of emotions. We use CTB with the integration of hypnotherapy, which is more effective than using CBT alone. The self-awareness that CBT offers renders it a highly successful way to modify behaviour.

Hypnosis relaxes and calms individuals, allowing one’s subconscious mind to accept positive suggestions for their well-being. This experience helps you reflect calmly and positively and cope with the days, weeks, and months ahead. finding inner peace within yourself and others, as well as aiding deep relaxation.

Clinical hypnosis increases the effectiveness of hypnotherapy, which enables unique, specific and positive changes to take place.
